DG/CEO NICRAT Receives Women in ICT on courtesy visit

The Director General, National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment, Prof Usman Malami Aliyu, Prof and consultant clinical and radiation oncologist has Monday August 7 received in audience one of the finest Non Governmental Organization in Information and Communication Technology space in the country – #WomenInICT on courtesy visit.

Welcoming the NGO to his office, Prof Aliyu lamented the many functions of the institute which have been carefully designed to reduce cancer burden in the country especially with the commitment of the current administration of 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗯𝘂 𝗚𝗖𝗙𝗥. He further informed the visitors of the success story of the institute and his plan to take it to greater height to enable it compete favorably with it’s contemporaries globally. This he assured can be achieved with the support of all stakeholders.

Prof Malami further encouraged the #ngo to come closer to #nicrat to build an actionable partnership especially as the world is becoming a global village. He then expressed confidence that such partnership if succsesfully worked out will improve effective and efficient service delivery of the institute in all ramification.

Earlier, the leader and vice president of the #ngo, Hauwa Isma’il thanked the DG for granting her team a warm audience. She also informed the DG of the activities of her #ngo and its clear interest to partner #nicrat in evolving awareness campaign against cancer and its risk factors across the country using ICT mechanism for better outcomes.

Highlights of the visit was unveiling the NGO’s “Walk and Run” campaign tool against cancer by the DG. The ideas was to commemorate world cancer day on 4th of February every year.
