Recognizing this urgency, First Ladies Against Cancer (@flacnig) of Nigeria, continue to champion a vision of reducing the cancer burden in our states, through early detection, equitable treatment access, and strong policy advocacy.
On Friday, 27th June 2025, @flacnig members convened with partners and stakeholders in Lagos, for a pivotal meeting to reaffirm this commitment.
The meeting featured the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between @flacnig and the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (@nicratgov), marking an important milestone in advancing coordinated national cancer control efforts.
Leadership is significant part of any organization’s success and should be consistent with the moment. Thus, after 4 wonderful years and gratitude to all, I am delighted to introduce HE Barr @he_chiomauzodimma as the new Chairperson of @flacnig. This smooth transition demonstrates our dedication to sustain our mission.

Also, at our meeting in Lagos, a documentary titled “What I Do Not Know Will Not Kill Me,” featuring @dr.aisha.mustapha and produced by @thatphotobelle, was screened. The film provides compelling insights into the lived realities of cancer care in Nigeria and we will use lessons therein to execute our work plan.
As current and former state first ladies, we will continue to foster partnerships across government, civil society, and development actors, and ensure the coalition remains a strong, unified voice for equitable cancer control in Nigeria.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to @roche for being a strong and reliable partner in our shared mission to improve cancer outcomes.
