NICRAT DG/CEO Joins Global Call to Make Ovarian Cancer Visible at World Cancer Congress 2026

The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), Prof. Usman Malami Aliyu, participated in the World Cancer Congress 2026, held in Hong Kong from 24–26 September 2026.
As part of the global cancer community, the DG/CEO joined the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition (WOCC) in its advocacy to raise awareness and strengthen the global response to ovarian cancer.

Under the campaign theme, “Let’s Make Ovarian Cancer Visible,” the initiative highlights the importance of:
🔹 Faster Diagnosis: Promoting timely detection and diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
🔹 Increased Investment: Advocating for greater investment in ovarian cancer research and care.
🔹 Patient-Centred Advocacy: Ensuring ovarian cancer is seen, heard, and taken seriously.

The World Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s 10th anniversary, celebrated under “WOCC at 10: Celebrating 10 Years of Impact,” provides an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of global collaboration in improving outcomes for women affected by ovarian cancer.

NICRAT remains committed to strengthening cancer prevention, early detection, research, and quality cancer care in Nigeria through strategic partnerships and evidence-informed action.
Together, we can make ovarian cancer visible and advance the fight against cancer.
